Minutes:   15th  May  2006    7.30pm  Wildfowler Inn.

Attendance: Rae Campbell, John Brady, Kyla Ritchie, Julie Davidson, Maurice Brown, Terry Lindsay, Stephen Gordon,

Apologies: Carol Mitchell, Pippa Cornick, Daphne Montgomery, Glenda Ritchie,
Noel Cornick, Derrick Murray.

Welcome: R. Campbell opened the meeting and thanked those present for attending.

Minutes of Previous Meeting: Minutes for meeting   20th March 2006 accepted by committee.  (Prop.  J. Brady   Sec.  K. Ritchie.)
M. Brown confirmed that amendments to the February minutes, as requested by B. Workman, had been carried out.

Correspondence:   None.

Matters Arising:
    60s Disco night
    Rural Community Network
    AGM

60s Disco: 21st April 2006   (All profits to youth building fund).
T. Lindsay reported that feedback he was getting was very positive.  R. Campbell felt that a 9.00pm start may have been more appropriate but agreed that without a late licence this would have made the evening very short.  M. Brown stated that he had asked the proprietors of the Wildfowler for a late license but unfortunately they were unable to provide one on this occasion.  He added that a late licence would have attracted a bigger crowd.  Committee agreed that after a slow start the room did begin to fill up and once again, a good night was had by all.  It was generally agreed that a lot of people had made a real effort to get into fancy dress.  With only one prize available, the winner of the fancy dress had to be Andrew Palmer from Islandview Gardens – alias Elvis.
The only adverse comment was with regard to some patrons of the public bar slipping into the function room without paying.  However, this did seem to help the proceeds of the ballot.
R. Campbell thanked everyone for their efforts and especially Noel & Pippa for organising the D.J. at such a reasonable rate.  J. Brady apologised for not being able to attend on the evening and kindly made a donation to the event.  M. Brown reported that the event has raised approx. £200 (after expenses) for the youth club building fund.

Some suggestion for the next event included a Whist Drive, Karaoke, Murder Mystery Night and another Pub Quiz.

Rural Community Network:  M. Brown advised committee that GADCA membership to this organisation had now lapsed.  Outlining some of the advantages, committee agreed that the annual fee of £20 should be paid to renew membership.  (Prop.  S. Gordon  Sec.  T. Lindsay).

AGM:   Monday 19th June 2006  @  7.30 pm - Trinity Presbyterian Church Hall.  R. Campbell to contact Mrs. Angela Martin to see if she would be willing to officiate.  M. Brown to produce posters and leaflets.  It was noted that a previous suggestion had been made to ask Mr. Richard Brittain to officiate but committee agreed that it would be difficult to have the AGM and an informative discussion on N.H.W. on the same evening.  J. Brady stated that he has spoken to R. Brittain very recently who agreed to attend one of our meetings.  It was suggested that the first meeting after the AGM would be a suitable time to invite Mr. Brittain.

Youth Report:  R. Campbell reported that the youth group had moved to the primary school on a trial basis to the end of June 2006.  She commented that it seems to suit very well and has the added bonus of some storage space.  Numbers are down slightly but with the summer scheme starting 31st July those numbers should rise again.  Due to funding cuts this year, activities may have to be restricted to local events as opposed to the traditional trip to Newcastle.  In conclusion an appeal for assistance over the summer months was made to committee members with free time on their hands.

Other Business:  R. Campbell reported that she had been speaking to the local community Police officer who informed her that the Police station would now be open on Wednesdays from 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm.  She congratulated the committee stating that this was a direct result of a suggestion by N. Cornick and this committee’s participation.

M. Brown reported that he had been working on a community association website that could be used to keep local residents up to date with what we are trying to achieve and more importantly get feedback on various topics.  Minutes of previous meetings, Newsletters, articles of local interest, youth club activities, forth coming events, are amongst the numerous items that could be published online.  The website would not cost GADCA anything as it would be sponsored by M. Brown’s  business.  He also added that in time, there may be the possibility of additional sponsors from the local trading community.  Sponsors would pay a small fee for advertising space with any profits generated going directly into GADCA funds.  Committee agreed that this was a good idea and consented to putting the website online.  M. Brown stated that it may take a few weeks before the site would be ready to go online and that the website address will be www.gadca.co.uk.

Next Meeting: AGM  Monday 19th June 2006
