DPP Meeting – Policing: N. Cornick drew attention to the next DPP meeting to be held in Kircubbin and urged members to attend. He then asked Mr Robert Davidson (Chair CPLC) to update committee on current policing issues on the peninsula. Following Mr. Davidson’s account on policing and the forthcoming DPP meeting, various local policing issues were discussed.
Village Plan: M. Brown reported that Mr Geoffrey Porter (ABC Community Development Officer) was on holiday and was therefore unable to attend this meeting. It was hoped that Mr Porter could have enlightened committee on the progress of the village plan and given members a better understanding of the scheme. N. Cornick stated that the latest documentation identified the concerns of residents but lacked any specific plan to tackle the problems. M. Brown added that he was also sceptical as to the eventual outcome of the village plan but hoped that Mr Porter could answer any questions at the November meeting.
Off Street Parking: New housing developments on main street raised various concerns regarding off street car parking (or the lack of it). P. Cornick highlighted the latest development adjacent to the public toilets which has been built, supposedly with off street parking but in reality the space allocated is inaccessible or unusable for that purpose. Committee agreed that all future planning applications, particularly those within the Main Street area, should be closely scrutinised to ensure that property developers provide adequate and usable off street car parking space. S. Gordon added that committee should be taking a more active role within the area of building and construction around the village. D. Montgomery suggested viewing the plans for the recent development to ascertain whether or not off street parking was a condition of the planning approval. M. Brown agreed to search Planning Department website to investigate the possibility of this committee receiving advance notice for planning applications within the Greyabbey & District Area.
Halloween Disco & Fancy Dress: Final arrangements for this event were discussed at length and committee agreed to meet at village hall on Friday afternoon to set up for event.
Main Street Road Surface: Committee again raised concerns regarding the diabolical condition of road and footpath surfaces at upper main street. Secretary was asked to contact MLA’s to ascertain when resurfacing is expected to commence.
