Extract from Minutes 16/04/07
The question of storage for youth group equipment was again raised with R. Campbell reporting that the portakabin from Newtownards Sailing Club was no longer available. After some discussion committee decided that a small storage unit could be purchased if a suitable location could be found. R. Campbell agreed that this would solve the immediate problem but it was not a long term solution. M. Brown stated that GADCA was currently holding funds designated for the youth group building fund. This money along with some additional funding from GADCA could be used to acquire suitable storage facilities. The unit would become the property of the youth group associated with this committee. Should any future progress with youth facilities render the storage unit redundant, the unit would be sold and the proceeds channelled back into the youth building fund. R. Campbell to source unit / prices, liaise with treasurer and report at next meeting. Committee agreed in principle to the purchase of a suitable storage unit.
(prop. J. Davidson Sec. K. Ritchie)
R. Campbell also reported that in-house training would be taking place on 28/2/08 and appealed for volunteers to assist the Youth Group. She added that the youth group was considering the possibility of starting an after schools group as Greyabbey Primary School was no longer able to provide this activity due to lack of funding . She stated that the Youth Group may be eligible for funding through it’s connection with the community association.
Other Business: N. Cornick informed committee that the new church hall at St. Saviours was now officially open and available to any group in the village for events or public meetings etc. R. Campbell stated that the community association are required to use the Village Hall for public meetings as a church hall could not be classed as non–denominational. S. Gordon disagreed and stated that the church hall should not be classed as denominational or discriminatory adding that Trinity church hall has been used in the past for AGMs. M. Brown agreed to check the constitution for any relevant statement.
