CPLC Report: At the request of B. Workman, committee agreed to move this item forward for discussion. B. Workman reported that the CPLC - AGM had taken place in Pebbles Coffee Shop. The speaker was Sergeant Ivan Shaw (Portaferry) who gave an interesting talk on the Tsunami. B. Workman informed committee that according to the constitution of the CPLC it was not their remit to give reports to GADCA and that neither D. Montgomery nor herself were members of the CPLC as GADCA representatives. R. Campbell declared that she was always of the opinion that they had both been elected representatives of GADCA to the CPLC committee. D. Montgomery insisted that this was not the case. B Workman stated that CPLC meetings are not open meetings. Members of the community can only attend by invitation of a member and state their concerns and leave whilst the subject is being debated. Any open meetings are advertised. R. Campbell stated that, as far as she was aware, the L in CPLC stood for liaison. If GADCA, a locally elected community based organisation, was not entitled to some form of local feedback from CPLC - then there didn’t appear to be much liaison. D. Montgomery pointed out that local people can be elected onto the committee at the AGM or, if they have any issues or points to raise they can visit the local Police station. J. Brady reminded committee that the Police station was only open for four hours per week. R. Campbell asked B. Workman if she has had the opportunity to raise N. Cornicks suggestion of an evening surgery at Greyabbey Police Station - to facilitate those local people who are working. B. Workman replied that she had and that the PSNI have suggested the station could possibly stay open to 6.00 pm on one evening.
Building Development - Newtownards Road: D. Montgomery apologised for not remembering to bring the plans to the meeting. She outlined the plan shows 10 – 3 bedroom town houses, 1 –2 bedroom apartment and 1 – 1 bedroom apartment.
Youth Group: R . Campbell reported that the youth group were enjoying the Easter ‘Eggstavaganza’ and requested the use of the lawn at Rosemount Estate for the finale parade. D. Montgomery agreed. Date to be confirmed. The number of senior members has increased from 12 to 20 in the last couple of weeks and once again helpers are required, particularly
male helpers. An advertisement to this effect is to be placed in the Greyabbey notes. G. Ritchie offered to have an announcement made in Church. An appeal to all churches was suggested. B. Workman suggested mentioning a rota type schedule which may enhance the chances of people coming forward. D. Montgomery informed the committee that D. Cole-Baker had said that there was a chance that a portacabin would be available at an affordable price from the sailing club. B. Workman suggested a few fund raising ideas such as buying a brick etc. Rounding off this report R. Campbell said she would take all these comments to the volunteer leaders.
