Greyabbey & District Community Association Elect New Chairperson
At the recent AGM of Greyabbey & District Community Association held on 17/09/07, Mr. Noel Cornick from Church Street, Greyabbey was elected as chairperson for the period 2007 - 2008.
Noel, an active member of the group since 2004, was delighted to accept the position and thanked the committee for their vote of confidence. He commended the outgoing chair Mrs. Rae Campbell, who has served the maximum of 3 years according to the constitution, for her excellent achievements and leadership skills during her time in office. Rae, he commented, has brought this committee from the brink of extinction to what it is today, a strong and vibrant community orientated group of like minded people, whose efforts I can only hope to replicate.
Rae thanked Noel for his kind words adding that the current committee have worked extremely hard over the past few years to rebuild the confidence of the community and to regain credibility which was sadly lost due to various issues. My only wish, she added, is that any activity that this committee decides to embark upon is shared with the community at large and that their views are paramount in any decisions that this committee may adopt.
Noel, and the entire committee, agreed that this was the only way forward. 26/09/07 |
