Greyabbey & District Community Association today (29/05/07) met with Mayor of Ards, Alderman Angus Carson, Ards Borough Council regeneration officer, David Birch and representatives from Scottish based firm of consultants Scott Wilson.
The East Border Region Tourism Partnership (EBRTP) in conjunction with Ards Borough Council have secured funding to prepare development plans for 29 villages throughout Northern Ireland under the heading ‘Pride in our Rural Villages’. Greyabbey has been selected to benefit from this funding initiative and consultancy group Scott Wilson have been commissioned to produce development plans for Greyabbey village.
The meeting was well attended and the tour of the village gave consultants a better feel for the area and the opportunity to listen to issues that directly or indirectly impact on the village. Various topics including traffic, condition of our roads, road safety, car parking, derelict properties, youth, tourism, leisure and school facilities, were all discussed at length.
It is expected that the consultants will use the information attained at this meeting and advise the community association of their findings in due course. |
