Welcome to
the web pages of...
Greyabbey & District
Community Association

(GADCA for short).

Regular visitors may notice that our website has now moved to Greyabbey .org.  Two reasons for this...

1. It is a much easier solution for the Community Association, we simply pass on the information that we  want published and its done.
2. It costs us absolutely nothing to have an online presence here at Greyabbey .org.

You will also quickly discover from this website that Greyabbey has a vast and varied range of groups, clubs and associations.  We are just one of those groups within the village who are also trying to do our bit for the benefit of the community at large.  Although we do already have some committee members who are also involved with other local groups, we openly welcome any group member or individual to join us on this committee.

Since its inception in 1997 Greyabbey and district community association has organised a wide variety of social functions including  family fun days, fancy dress events, pub quiz nights and street parties, to mention but a few and have witnessed new freindships springing up as a direct result.  The main objective of all these events is quite simply to bring the community together in a  fun soaked atmosphere and to retain the community spirit that Greyabbey and district residents have enjoyed for many years.

Of course, that is only one aspect of our remit as an active community group.  On a more serious level we highlight and bring attention to issues within the area that effect the day to day life of the community as a whole.  We regularly liaise with council representatives and local government offices to resolve issues and improve basic amenities throughout the village.  As a recognised community group we do have some influence with these bodies but in these days of financial restraint and government cut backs, we do not always get what we ask for.

The current committee realise that  local support (thats you - if you reside locally) is a prerequisite to any sucess that we might achieve.  We also strongly believe that by keeping our activities open and transparent we dispel any mistrust or misunderstanding and our community can see exactly what we are doing at any particular point in time.  Hopefully this website will go some way to further enhance our open and transparent objectives. We are very much aware that a lot of issues around the village need to be addressed.  Some of these we are currently working on and some we have successfully resolved.  Needless to say we will continue to work on the unresolved issues where practicable.  If you have an issue that you feel this committee may not be aware of, please get in touch.  Without community input we are not always aware of the issues that effect you.

We would also like to take this opportunity to extend a warm welcome to anyone who has recently come to reside in Greyabbey and would encourage anyone new to the area to get involved with some of the local groups.  Certainly, this committee would be very pleased to have you on board.  Hopefully you will warm to our village and to this community very quickly.

The links above will tell you more about GADCA - what we do and what we are trying to achieve.
